Kokopelli is a fertility mythical figure usually depicted as a humpbacked flute player
(often with a huge phallus and feathers or antenna-like protrusions on his
head), who has been venerated by some Native American cultures in the Southwestern
United States. Many powers are attributed to Kokopelli. Some believed that his good luck powers came from his power to create life. He was believed to be the power that taught people to plant and cultivate corn. He prepared the earth for planting, bringing spring by warming the ground and bringing rain through flute playing and songs. Often depicted carrying a sack that contains corn, seedlings and other plants, he is thought to spread wealth. From his power to grow things, Kokopelli is seen to be an aid to human fertility as well. He is usually considered most welcome and childless women seek him as an aid to pregnancy. Kokopelli is carefree and uninhibited, sexy and joyful, smart and fun loving. He brings wealth through charity, fertility, fun and good luck to most who encounter him. In recent years, an emasculated version of Kokopelli has been adopted as a broader symbol of the Southwestern United States as a whole. North Border Bar & Grill is an American Southwest Restaurant where we aim to bring you the best foods from this part of America. We chose to depict the kokopelli symbol in our logo design as a sign of prosperity, productivity and abundance. We aim to bring our customers good quality food at reasonable prices and we strive to give you our best service at all times. |
